Farmers' Market Associate

Job Description:

Overview:

We are seeking a Farmers' Market Associate to oversee sales and operations for one of the local farmers' markets that BannerBee will be participating in during the 2023 season. 

The Farmers' Market Associate's general responsibilities will include:  managing customer relationships, market booth set-up and break down, pick up and drop off of tent/tables/product from/to our location in upper Montgomery County, market sales & handling of payment transactions, assist in social media outreach and promotion.

General Requirements: 

The Farmers' Market Associate must be available for the entire season from April through December, 2023, on Saturdays; must have own vehicle; be willing and able to work outside in all weather conditions; and be able to safely lift and carry at least 50 pounds.  The position requires the ability to work independently as well as inter-dependently with market sales staff at markets that require additional sales person.

The ideal candidate will be an advocate of the local food movement and beekeeping/urban agriculture in and around our nation's capital.  The Market Associate must be reliable, punctual, self-motivated, organized and have strong customer service and communication skills.

Responsibilities:

Specific responsibilities of the Market Associate include, but are not limited to:

MARKET OPERATIONS

  • Arrives at our location in upper Montgomery County 2 hours prior to market opening to load market tent, weights, tables, display/signage and product
  • Drive to/from market location
  • Set up market booth in assigned location {at any market, complete set up should be completed 15 minutes prior to market open}
  • Market sales {includes POS credit card processing}
  • Booth breakdown at, and not before, market close {includes carefully packing product into crates so as not to damage during transport and unloading}
  • Pack up vehicle & return to our location to unload

    This is a part-time position requiring weekends with an average of 8-10 hours per week.  This position could potentially lead to a full-time position with additional events and pop-up opportunities available.

    Current schedule:

    Saturdays 7:00am-3:00pm

    Optional weekday/weekday evenings for tastings/special events

    Production Assistant

    Job Description:

    Overview:

    We are seeking a Production Assistant to assist in operations at our location in Northern Montgomery County MD.

    The Production Assistant's general responsibilities will include:  honey extraction during harvest; beeswax rendering and candle-making; batching personal care; packaging tasks; fulfilling online orders; etc

    General Requirements: 

    The Production Assistant must be available  3-4 days per week; must have own vehicle; major attention to detail; and, be able to safely lift and carry at least 50 pounds.  The position requires the ability to work independently once trained.

    The ideal candidate will be an advocate of the local food movement and beekeeping/urban agriculture in and around our nation's capital.  The Production Assistant must be reliable, punctual, self-motivated, organized and have strong  communication skills.

    Responsibilities:

    Specific responsibilities of the Production Associate include, but are not limited to:

    PRODUCTION OPERATIONS

    • Honey extraction and clean up, during harvest
    • Honey bottling, infusion blending + labeling
    • Beeswax candle pouring + packaging
    • Body care batching + packaging
    • Farmers' Market prep work
    • Online order fulfillment + shipping drop-offs
    • Wholesale deliveries
    • Organizing + honey room clean up
    • Additional tasks as needed

    This is a part-time position with an average of 18-24 hours per week.  This position could potentially lead to a full-time position with additional events and pop-up opportunities available.

    Current schedule:

    3-4 days per week, 9am-3pm

    Optional weekday/weekday evenings for tastings/special events
